Settling for More

  • You Come For One Reason But You Stay For Another

Product Description

By Zahava Englard

Leaving behind a daughter in college and a comfortable suburban life in Teaneck, New Jersey, Zahava Englard packed up her husband, two teenage sons, and ten-year-old daughter to move to the Judean hills in the midst of the 2006 Hezbollah-Israeli war. Armed with wit and humor, she passionately conveys a candid account of the family's drastically altered world. Zahava's wide-ranging anecdotes of her initial years in Israel evolve unexpectedly into a strong and spiritually infused argument for aliyah.

About the author:
A native of New York, Zahava D. Englard lived with her husband and four children in New Jersey for nineteen years before making aliyah to Israel with her family in 2006. Presently working as a freelance writer, Zahava lives with her family in Efrat, Gush Etzion, and is a freelance writer and an active member of the Gush Etzion / Efrat action committee.

Praise for Settling for More:

"A timely and inspirational account that provides lively insight into what a new immigrant faces in Judea and in the country at large."
-Oded Revivi, Mayor of Efrat

"CAUTION! Those indecisive about going on aliyah this book will push you over the line!"
-Steven Orlow, President of One Israel Fund

"Zahava's madcap humor keeps you laughing until she slaps you with the actuality of Arab terrorism, Israel s construction of the Separation Wall, and the reality of being the mother of a soldier. Zahava Englard teaches readers about idealism and Zionist values as she fights for Efrat s Eitam Hill and honors our nation's true leaders and defenders."
-Sharon Katz, Editor of Voices Magazine
