Contrary to what many believe, the Creator did not leave the daily functioning of the universe to the course of nature. Rabbi Yisroel Baal Shem Tov (1698-1760) showed that the Creator personally controls every single detail of the universe in a manner known as hashgacha pratis or Divine Direction. Every occurrence in micro and macro, from the tiniest molecule to the vast supergalaxies, is the outcome of Divine Direction.
